LAUREN SABO, ESQ.

Background

Lauren brings first-hand experience as a former educator to her work serving clients in a wide range of educational matters with a focus on special education law. When not serving clients with Team AW, Lauren can be found serving as a Guardian Ad Litem, representing children’s best interests in challenging court cases involving juvenile human trafficking.

Born and raised in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Lauren graduated from Denison University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology. With a heart for service, Lauren joined the Teach for America corps and began her teaching career in Denver, Colorado, as a high school multi-intensive special education teacher. In this role, she was inspired to serve the unique needs of her students and families while earning master’s degrees in Urban Education, Curriculum and Design, and Biological Sciences. During her time as a teacher, Lauren coached multiple Special Olympics sports as well as varsity women’s basketball and volleyball teams. She also started a Special Olympics Project UNIFY Program at her school and co-authored the national Project UNIFY school curriculum. Lauren was awarded the Zachary Neumeyer Excellence in Teaching Award and was a Sue Lehman Excellence in Teaching Award National Semifinalist.

As an educator, Lauren recognized that many of the issues her students faced could only be met with legal advocacy and she was driven by this newfound purpose to pursue a longtime interest in attending law school. Lauren earned her Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law as well as a dual master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs.

Lauren’s experience working with youth as an educator, coach, CASA Guardian ad Litem, and legal intern at the U.S. Department of Education and in the Justice for Children Clinic furthered her passion to assist underserved youth. Upon graduation, she was chosen for the Greif Fellowship at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. As a Fellow, Lauren provided legal representation and wrap-around services to juvenile victims of human trafficking throughout Ohio.

When not zealously advocating for her clients, Lauren enjoys life with her husband, daughter, and their two rescue golden/labs. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, biking, hiking, traveling, and the occasional game of golf.
