CHAD ABRAHAM, ADVOCATE

Chad was upfront and professional throughout the entire process. His expertise was invaluable. He was able to make recommendations for my son’s education due to his 15 years of being a Special Education teacher himself. He was able to bridge the gap that was between my wife and I and the district. My son is thriving now.
— Former Client

Chad is a Special Education Advocate for Albeit Weiker, LLP and focuses his practice on parental rights and procedural safeguards for students under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA).

Specifically, Chad’s passion is advocating for the individualized services for students with special needs ranging from Early Intervention as well as K-12. Chad also has extensive and unique knowledge on the process of obtaining funding through local Boards of Developmental Disabilities.

Chad grew up in Upper Arlington and graduated from Bowling Green State University receiving a Bachelor's degree as an Intervention Specialist K-12, Mild to Moderate.

His knowledge of how to obtain funding from local boards came from balancing college while working as a service provider for The Wood County Board of DD. While employed as a teacher, he donated his summers to serve as a provider through The Franklin County Board of DD.

Chad has training and certifications in many different areas of Special Education. He has had trainings and certifications in Orton Gillingham (OG),  Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).

Chad truly believes there is a huge need for children with special needs to have a voice, and the true right to an individualized education was very often overlooked. Parents deserve the right to fully understand the rights of their child, and more importantly, what the school is able to do to address any parental concerns. Chad has made this his mission and motivation while advocating.

Special Education advocacy requires an extensive understanding of disabilities, state and federal laws, educational practices and scientifically based systematic approaches to teaching, and placement options for the student. Chad has assisted families in most of the Central Ohio and surrounding districts in requesting initial evaluations, Evaluation Team Reports (ETR), Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and safety plans.

Chad lives in Delaware, Ohio with his wife, Jen, and his daughter, Aria.  Jen is a 6th grade language arts teacher. Aria just turned two. She was born on Chad’s birthday, and already has her daddy wrapped around her finger.
